In Very Good Condition

Ellsworth Polacca Nampeyo (1940–1993) was a Hopi-Tewa potter from the renowned Nampeyo family of First Mesa, Arizona. He was a son of the prolific potter Fannie Nampeyo (1900–1987) and a grandson of the legendary Nampeyo of Hano (ca. 1859–1942), who revived ancient Sikyatki-style Hopi pottery traditions in the late 19th/early 20th century.

He began making pottery in the late 1970s and was active through the 1980s. His work is known for polished redware jars and seed jars featuring incised or sgraffito (carved/etched) designs, often with motifs like butterflies, turtles, kachinas, or geometric patterns. These are typically small to miniature in scale, hand-coiled, highly polished, and sometimes accented with turquoise or other stones.
