Finely coled basket tray with slight upwardly turned rim. Willow, red yucca root and black devils claw seed pod husk on a three rod foundation.

With a deep patina and a few scatted rim stitched damaged, overall in Very Good Condition.

Paiute baskets, crafted by the Paiute people of the Great Basin region (encompassing parts of Nevada, Utah, California, and Arizona), are made from plant materials native to their arid environment. These baskets served both practical purposes—like gathering, storage, and cooking—and cultural roles, showcasing the Paiute’s skill in adapting sparse resources into durable, functional items.
