Diane Lewis was born in 1960 into the Yellow Corn Clan at Acoma Pueblo. She comes from a prominent family of potters—her mother was Katherine Lewis, and her sisters (including Marilyn Ray, Carolyn Lewis-Concho, Judy Lewis, and Rebecca Lucario) are also well-known artists in the traditional Acoma style. Diane began making pottery at age 21 and specializes in handmade seed pots and small bowls, often featuring Mimbres-Revival designs (inspired by ancient Mimbres pottery) alongside classic Acoma motifs like fine lines, butterflies, geometric patterns, animals, and fish (she includes a signature fish hallmark).
