Antique Makah lidded baskets are finely woven artifacts created by the Makah people, a Native American tribe from Neah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. Closely related to the Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) of Vancouver Island, the Makah developed a cottage industry in the 1860s producing these "trinket" baskets for tourists, continuing through the 1930s.
