Antique Pima baskets are highly regarded examples of Native American basketry from the Pima people (also known as the Akimel O'odham), who traditionally lived in the desert regions of central and southern Arizona. These coiled baskets are renowned for their fine craftsmanship, tight stitching, and distinctive designs, often featuring geometric patterns, whirling logs (swastika-like motifs common in early 20th-century pieces), man-in-the-maze patterns, turtleback or squash blossom motifs, human figures, or animals.
