Antique Pima baskets, crafted by the Akimel O'odham (Pima) people of Arizona, are highly sought-after for their fine, watertight coiling and complex geometric designs. These baskets are typically made using a foundation of willow shoots, cattails, or beargrass, stitched with willow for the light sections and devil's claw (martynia) for the dark patterns. Collectors value them for their tight stitch work and the natural patina they develop over time, often giving them a warm, golden hue.
