In Overall Excellent Condition but Showing Cultural Use

Antique Zuni Pueblo pottery, particularly large ollas (traditional water jars), represents a rich tradition from the Zuni people, one of the largest Native American pueblos in western New Mexico. These vessels were primarily functional, used for storing and carrying water, but their intricate designs also held cultural and ceremonial significance, often symbolizing elements like rain, fertility, and nature. Zuni ollas are renowned for their distinctive polychrome style, featuring bold geometric patterns, symbolic motifs (such as rain birds, heartline deer, or rosettes representing sunflowers or Katsina masks), and a balance of form and decoration that reflects the pueblo's isolated location and unique aesthetic.
