A "California Full Groove Axe" most likely refers to a prehistoric Native American full-grooved stone axe head (or maul) linked to a California collection or context. Full-grooved stone axes are ancient ground stone tools, typically from the Archaic period (roughly 9,000–3,000+ years ago, with some continuing into Woodland times). They feature a groove that completely encircles the head (unlike 3/4-groove versions), allowing secure hafting to a wooden handle with cordage or sinew.
