Casas Grandes pottery, a renowned style of prehistoric and contemporary pottery originating from the Casas Grandes (or Paquimé) region in northern Chihuahua, Mexico.
This ancient tradition dates back to around AD 1000–1450 during the Mogollon culture's peak at the Paquimé archaeological site, a major pre-Columbian urban center and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The pottery is famous for its elaborate, colorful designs—often polychrome (multi-colored) with geometric patterns, animals, macaws, and other motifs—making it one of the most visually striking Southwestern/North Mexican ceramic traditions. It was both utilitarian and ceremonial, and pieces were traded widely, influencing areas as far as present-day Arizona and New Mexico.
