Casas Grandes effigy figurative jars are iconic prehistoric ceramic vessels from the Casas Grandes culture in Chihuahua, Mexico. This culture flourished roughly between AD 1200–1450, during the late prehistoric period in the American Southwest/Northern Mexico region. The site of Paquimé was a major center with advanced architecture, trade networks, and sophisticated artistry.

These effigy jars are figurative pottery pieces where the vessel is shaped or decorated to represent human figures, animals (like dogs, rams, birds, or macaws), or hybrid/anthropomorphic forms. They often feature polychrome decoration—multiple colors (typically black, red, and white paints on a cream or reddish slip)—with intricate geometric designs, stepped patterns, scrolls, and symbolic motifs that may include tattoo-like facial markings, plumed serpents, or other elements reflecting cultural or spiritual significance.
