Chimayo, New Mexico, is famous for its traditional handwoven textiles, especially wool rugs, blankets, and related items rooted in Spanish Colonial and Native American influences from the Rio Grande weaving tradition. These often feature bold geometric patterns, vibrant colors like red, turquoise, black, white, and earth tones, and sometimes motifs like birds or diamonds.
