Judith “Judy” Suina (also signed “J. Suina”), Cochiti Pueblo potter (born 1960), known for traditional storyteller figurines. She is the daughter of Dorothy Trujillo (a noted Cochiti potter who learned from Damacia Cordero). Judy learned pottery from her mother and continues in a similar figurative style. Her pieces are typically hand-coiled from native clay, finished with traditional cream, terracotta/red, and black slips/pigments, and signed “J. Suina” (sometimes with “Cochiti”) on the underside.
