Elizabeth “Buffy” Cordero-Suina (born November 1969, Cochiti Pueblo) is a Cochiti potter best known for her storyteller figurines. She is the granddaughter of Helen Cordero (1915–1994), who is widely credited with inventing the modern Pueblo storyteller form in 1964, and the daughter of potters George Cordero and Kathy Cordero. She learned pottery by watching and working with her father and especially her grandmother. As a child she lived near Helen’s home, sat at her workbench, and around age 11 received her first lump of clay from Helen, which she used to make a small animal figure. Like Helen, Buffy found bowls and jars difficult but excelled at figurative work. She used traditional methods: a gray base clay mixed with volcanic ash and sand, a white slip polished before painting, and natural mineral paints. She followed strict traditional practices.
