Juanita Inez Ortiz (1960–2008), who also went by her Native name Mapuwana (Wild Rose), was a highly celebrated Native American potter from the Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico. Known for keeping Cochiti traditions alive through her beautifully crafted figures and animal forms, her turtle pottery pieces are highly collectible examples of traditional Cochiti figurative design.
