In Very Good Condition
Larry Float Sr. (1935–2001) was a renowned Yup'ik (often referred to in broader terms as Eskimo or Inuit in some contexts) artist from Mekoryuk, Nunivak Island, Alaska. He was celebrated for his intricate spirit masks (also called dance masks or inua masks), which draw from traditional Yup'ik ceremonial art. These masks often represent animal spirits, mythological beings, or elements of the natural world, carved from wood with polychrome (multi-colored) paint, attached appendages, hoops, and symbolic details like fish, birds, or sea creatures.
His works are highly collectible and appear in auctions, galleries, and collections, including pieces in diplomatic settings via the Foundation for Art & Preservation in Embassies.
