Michael Romero (born 1964) and Robin “Shy-Yai-Zta” Romero (born 1968) are full-blooded Acoma Pueblo artists who work collaboratively. They learned traditional hand-coiling and natural-pigment techniques as teenagers and specialize in finely detailed etched designs. Common motifs include hummingbirds, deer, elk, wolves, floral patterns, geometric Acoma elements, and kachina dancers. Pieces are typically signed “M & R Romero, Acoma, N.M.,” “M. R.
