The Fine Pima Oval Winnowing Basket is a traditional coiled basket crafted by the Pima people, indigenous to southern Arizona. These are highly regarded examples of Native American basketry, prized for their tight, intricate weaving and cultural significance.

Pima winnowing baskets are shallow, low-sided forms traditionally used to separate chaff from grain by tossing the contents in the air, allowing wind to carry away lighter debris. They could be round or oval, with oval shapes appearing in various examples, including some with handles or elongated designs for practical use.
