Delbridge Honanie (also known by his Hopi name Coohsiwukioma or Coochsiuu Kioma, born 1946) is a renowned Hopi artist and master carver from the Hopi Tribe in northeastern Arizona. He specializes in creating traditional and contemporary kachina dolls (also called katsina or tithu), which are sacred representations of the immortal spirits (kachinas or katsinam) central to Hopi religion and culture. These spirits are believed to reside in the San Francisco Peaks and descend to the Hopi mesas during ceremonies from winter solstice to mid-July, bringing rain, fertility, and harmony with nature. Honanie's work often reflects deep cultural significance, incorporating symbolic colors, feathers (now carved from wood due to federal regulations), and elements that educate about Hopi traditions.
