The Hopi Pueblo Badger Kachina Doll (known as Honan or Honani in Hopi/Tewa traditions) represents a powerful healing spirit in Hopi culture. The Badger Kachina embodies wisdom about medicinal roots and herbs, persistence, strength, and resourcefulness. It often appears in mixed kachina dances and ceremonies like the Water Serpent ceremony at First Mesa. Badger is sometimes viewed as a directional guardian (associated with the south in some Pueblo traditions) and a healer sought for prayers and curing the sick.
