Lawrence Namoki (1949–2020) was a renowned Hopi potter from Walpi, the oldest village on First Mesa at Hopi in Arizona. He belonged to the Flute-Deer Clan, and his father, Maxwell Namoki, was a high priest and kachina carver. Namoki started as a wood carver of miniature kachinas before turning to pottery around 1983, inspired by a visit to the Santa Fe Indian Market. He became one of the most collected contemporary Hopi artists, known for intricate, storytelling pieces.
