Hopi Pueblo Kachina dolls (also spelled katsina or katsinam in the Hopi language; the dolls themselves are called tihu or katsintithu) are traditional carved wooden figures representing the immortal spirit beings known as kachinas (or katsinam). These spirits are central to Hopi religious and cultural life in northeastern Arizona. They act as messengers between the human and spirit worlds, bring rain, ensure fertility, teach moral lessons, and maintain balance in nature and society.
