Mudheads are sacred clown-like figures in Hopi, Zuni, and other Pueblo traditions (also called Koyemsi or related names). They often appear with distinctive rounded, knobbed, mud- or clay-covered heads, expressive faces, and roles that can include entertainment, teaching, mediating, healing, or ceremonial functions. A Mudhead Storyteller blends these elements: a Mudhead adult figure (sometimes in a playful or teaching pose) with attached or nearby Mudhead children.
