Calton Harvey (also spelled Carlton Harvey, Carlon Harvey, or Calton Harvey Sr.) was a Hopi Pueblo carver (active primarily in the late 20th century, associated with areas like Polacca/First Mesa). He produced a range of traditional and detailed Kachina dolls, including figures like Spider Woman, Mudhead, Longhair, and others. His work appears in auctions, museum shops (e.g., Heard Museum), and collections, often signed. Dolls by him from the 1970s–1990s are typically 8–13+ inches tall and valued in the mid-to-low hundreds depending on condition and detail.
Pahlik Mana (also spelled Palhik Mana or Poli Mana), known as the Butterfly Maiden or Corn-Grinding Maiden, is a popular female figure in Hopi Kachina (Katsina) tradition.
She is not a masked Kachina spirit in the same way as many others but represents a woman’s dance personage (often appearing in dances like the Mamzrau). Dolls of her are common teaching tools for children and collectors’ items.
