Hand Coiled White Polychrome Vase with a Painted Black and Deep Terracotta Geometric Design with a Frog Hallmark and the Initials PN

A Hopi Pueblo Polychrome White Ware vessel bearing the "PN" designation alongside the frog hallmark identifies the piece as the work of Paqua Naha (c. 1890–1955), the legendary First Frog Woman. The initials "PN" stand directly for her name. While she made traditional yellow ware for most of her career, she famously engineered the Hopi white kaolin clay slip technique between 1951 and 1952 just before her passing.
