Mini Cradle

13"H x 5"W

A fine miniature in Very Good Condition.  These have multiple possible purposes:

  • Ceremonial use — symbolic items representing protection, motherhood, or lineage.

  • Teaching tools — used to teach girls basketry techniques and cradleboard construction.

  • Doll or play cradles — used by children, reinforcing cultural roles and skills.

  • Decorative or gift items — especially in the early–mid 20th century, when many were made for sale or gifting.

  • Cultural preservation — miniature cradleboards allow artisans to demonstrate complex twining techniques without producing a full cradle.
