Jemez Pueblo (Walatowa) in New Mexico, made by an artist signed as R. Chavez. Turtle motifs are especially common in Jemez works, symbolizing water, longevity, and life — reflecting the pueblo's cultural ties to natural elements and rainfall in the arid Southwest.
