In Very Good Condition
Emma Yepa is a respected third-generation Jemez Pueblo potter from New Mexico, known for her high-quality, hand-coiled stone-polished pottery, especially signature melon swirl (or ribbed) vessels, seed pots, jars, and vases.
Born in May 1968 in Jemez Pueblo (Walatowa), New Mexico, into the Coyote Clan. She began learning pottery around age 11 from her mother, Ida Yepa, and aunt Alvina Yepa. Her grandmother Reyes Toya (sometimes referenced as great-grandmother in lineages) was also a potter, continuing a strong family tradition of acclaimed Jemez artists. Active since 1987; she hand-digs clay from Jemez Pueblo lands, uses natural slips, and fires pieces traditionally (outdoors and sometimes in a kiln).
