Tosa is Dorela (or Dorelia) Tosa, a Jemez Pueblo potter (born 1952). tias.com Jemez Pueblo (Walatowa) pottery is known for its use of local red and buff clays, often featuring polychrome (multi-color) painted designs with geometric patterns, feathers, birds, flowers, or medallions. Potters traditionally hand-coil vessels, slip and polish them (sometimes stone-polishing for a smooth finish), paint with natural pigments using yucca brushes, and fire outdoors. Jemez styles have been influenced by neighboring pueblos like Zia, especially in the revival periods of the 20th century.
