Chrislyn Fragua is a contemporary potter from Jemez Pueblo (Walatowa), New Mexico, known for hand-built storyteller figurines, including clown/koshare versions, nativities, and other small figures. andreafisherpottery.com She was born in November 1973 to Philip and Linda Lucero Fragua and grew up in a family of potters. She began working with clay around age 11–12 under her mother’s guidance, digging local clay from the Jemez hills and using natural slips and pigments. She prefers small storyteller figures and nativities but says she “makes whatever the clay asks of her.” She has exhibited at the Walatowa Cultural Center, the Heard Museum, and the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show (where she has earned ribbons, including for miniature nativities). She is passing the tradition to her daughter, Anissa Tsosie. Relatives in the broader Fragua pottery family include her mother Linda, brother Loren Wallowing Bull, and others who also produce storytellers and clown figures.
