Beatrice Riley (also known as Beatrice Loretto or Beatrice Riley Loretto), a full-blooded Jemez potter born in 1951. She began working with clay around 1962, digs her own natural clay from the pueblo, and uses traditional coil and pinch methods with natural slips and paints. Her pieces include storytellers, nativity figures, and other forms such as wedding vases. She is part of the extended Loretto family of Jemez potters (related to artists such as Lupe Loretto Lucero, Alma Loretto Concha, Fannie Loretto, and others who also make storytellers).
