Lupita (T. Toya/Yepa) is a potter from Jemez Pueblo (Walatowa), New Mexico, part of a prominent multi-generational family of Jemez artists. andreafisherpottery.com +1 She is married to Lawrence Yepa (born ~1948) and is the mother of sgraffito potter Elston Yepa (born 1976, Frog Clan). Lupita is often identified as Lupita Toya before/around marriage or in family contexts (daughter of Martha Toya; sister to potters like Lawrence Toya and Marie Chinana). She works in traditional hand-coiled methods using natural Jemez clays, slips (red, buff), stone polishing, and firing techniques. Family pieces frequently feature sgraffito (incised) designs like feathers, geometrics, corn, or avanyu, along with polished surfaces.
