The Makah, whose homeland is at Neah Bay on the northwestern tip of the Olympic Peninsula, are especially known for finely made small trinket or lidded baskets. 
The Lummi traditionally produced a wider range of functional baskets. Basketry was (and is) used for gathering (berries, clams, roots), storage, cooking (watertight coiled forms), transport, and ceremonial or household purposes.
