Makah lidded baskets are distinctive woven trinket or gift baskets created by the Makah people, a Native American tribe from the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state (Neah Bay area). They are part of a strong Northwest Coast basketry tradition, evolving into a commercial "cottage industry" in the 1860s and continuing through the 1930s.
