Makah round lidded baskets—often called "trinket baskets"—are highly collectible, finely woven traditional items crafted by the Makah people of Neah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Originally evolving from utilitarian storage containers, these small, intricately decorated baskets became a thriving cottage industry between the 1860s and 1930s to meet the demands of growing tourism and art collectors.
