Maricopa jar pottery is a traditional handcrafted ceramics produced by the Maricopa people (also known as the Piipaash or Pee-Posh), a Native American tribe indigenous to the southwestern United States, particularly the region around the Gila and Salt Rivers in what is now Arizona. The Maricopa are closely associated with the Pima (Akimel O'odham) and share the Gila River Indian Community and Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservations. Their pottery, often misattributed as "Pima pottery," is a distinct art form that emphasizes functionality and intricate geometric designs.
