Mexican Taxco copper jars (often called "jarras" or pitchers/cántaros in Spanish) are iconic examples of mid-20th-century Mexican metalwork. Taxco, Guerrero, is world-renowned primarily for silver craftsmanship (revived by William Spratling in the 1930s), but artisans there also produced high-quality hammered copper items, frequently using mixed metals techniques ("metales casados" — combining copper with silver, brass, or alpaca), silver plating over copper, stone inlays (like malachite, lapis, or azurite), and sculptural motifs.
