Moche Stirrup-Spout Vessels from the Nepeña Valley were crafted by artisans of the Moche culture, who flourished along Peru’s North Coast from approximately AD 100 to 600. These vessels, named for their stirrup-like spout, were a favored form for about 2,500 years, used for both practical and ritual purposes. The Nepeña Valley region, located in the southern part of the Moche territory, was one of the key centers where these ceramics were produced and used.
