Efrain Fuentes comes from a long line of artisans. He is a third-generation carver learned the craft at age 7 from his father, Epifanio Fuentes (a pioneer in Oaxacan woodcarving), who in turn was taught by his father, Zenen Fuentes.
Handcrafted Mexican folk art sculpture known as an alebrije. Alebrijes are fantastical, brightly painted wooden carvings originating from the Oaxacan region of Mexico.
