The Navajo Buffalo Warrior Kachina Doll by Sammie Walker is a highly collectible piece of Native American art that blends distinct regional carving styles and cultural symbolism.
Sammie Walker is a highly regarded contemporary artist of Navajo-Hopi heritage. Hopi-trained technique was passed down to him by an elder named Many Cattles, who taught him traditional Hopi carving methods. Distinctive "Old Style" aesthetic defines his work, injecting exceptional action, precise painting, and dynamic movement into his figures. A unique cultural bridge exists in his work, as he utilizes elements from both his Navajo roots and Hopi training.
