Navajo Gallup Throws are small, popular Navajo weavings made for the tourist trade, especially sold at train stops like Gallup, NM, known for their affordability and portability, typically featuring simple geometric or pictorial designs on a cotton warp with a distinctive fringe on only one end (due to being woven two-at-a-time and cut apart). They were a quicker, cheaper alternative to larger rugs, using commercial yarns, and remain collectible souvenirs, often with colorful banded patterns.
