Hubbell Turquoise Trade Beads (also called Hubbell beads, Hubble beads, or Hubble glass) are pressed glass beads made primarily in Bohemia/Czechoslovakia (and earlier in Italy or other European centers) that were imported to the American Southwest in the early 20th century. They were designed and colored to imitate turquoise and were widely used by Navajo and other Native American silversmiths and jewelers in necklaces, earrings, concha belts, and other pieces sold through trading posts.
