Lone Mountain Turquoise is a highly prized variety of turquoise from the Lone Mountain mine in Esmeralda County, Nevada, near Tonopah. Discovered and claimed in 1920 by Lee Hand (originally as the Blue Jay Mining Lode before renaming), it became famous in the late 1920s when high-grade spiderweb material was found. The mine has produced some of the finest American turquoise, known for its stability and beauty.
