Hand Made Wedding Jar with a Cream Field and Brown Marble Pattern with Two Spouts and a Handle

In Very Good Condition

Navajo (Diné) wedding jars (also called wedding vases) are traditional double-spouted pottery vessels symbolizing the union of two lives in marriage. The two spouts represent the bride and groom, the connecting handle (or bridge) represents their bond, and the space in the loop often symbolizes the circle of life. In traditional ceremonies, the vessel is filled with blessed water (or a similar liquid prepared by a medicine person); the couple drinks from opposite spouts. Many modern examples are decorative rather than functional.
