Papago baskets (now more commonly referred to as Tohono O'odham baskets) are traditional coiled basketry created by the Tohono O'odham people (meaning "Desert People"), Native Americans of the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona and northern Mexico. The term "Papago" was an older Spanish-derived name that the nation officially changed in the 1980s.
