Penobscot baskets with lids are beautiful examples of traditional Native American basketry from the Penobscot Nation, part of the Wabanaki people in Maine. These are often crafted using brown ash splints (split from black ash trees), sweetgrass, and sometimes porcupine quills or other natural materials for decorative accents.
