A Tupu (also spelled tupo) is a traditional, historic Andean metal shawl pin used for centuries by indigenous women in Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador. In the classic Andean costume ensemble, the Tupu pin is paired alongside a heavy woven garment and a specialized waist sash called a chumpi.
