Pima horse hair baskets—crafted by the Akimel O'odham (Pima) and closely related Tohono O'odham peoples of Southern Arizona—are highly intricate, tightly coiled miniature works of art. Emerging as a significant creative innovation in the mid-20th century, these miniatures transitioned traditional desert weaving techniques from wild plants to the tail hair of horses.
