Pit River baskets are traditional twined basketry items crafted by the Pit River (Achomawi and Atsugewi) people, a collection of Native American bands from northeastern California along the Pit River near Montgomery Creek. These baskets are renowned for their tight weaving, geometric designs, and use of natural materials like willow rods for the warp, pine root or sedge for the weft, and accents of bear grass, maidenhair fern, or redbud for patterns.
