In Very Good Condition

During the 19th century, the trade tomahawk evolved from a vital frontier survival tool into a deeply significant cultural and diplomatic object. Manufactured primarily by European and American blacksmiths to trade with Native American tribes for animal furs, these metal-headed axes completely replaced traditional stone and antler implements. By the 1800s, the design, distribution, and utility of these axes reached their historical peak before shifting toward industrial mass production around 1820.
