Plateau beaded gauntlet leather gloves are highly collectible, historic artifacts representing a distinctive form of traditional Native American craftsmanship. Originating in the 19th and early 20th centuries, these gloves were crafted by Plateau tribes—such as the Nez Perce (Nimíipuu), Yakama, and Umatilla—from the Columbia River Plateau region in the Pacific Northwest. Native artisans adapted the style from wide-cuffed European and U.S. Cavalry riding gloves, transforming them into striking works of wearable art.
